Princess Pageant Pages YAY!!

July 28th, 2010 by Donna | Comments Off | Filed in Scrapbooking

So my Granddaughter Torrie went to her Pageant this past weekend and of course we took like 200 pictures LOL! I am so excited to do the pages now. My son Todd was her escort he was dressed in a suit for the formal competition. He looked so nice and Torrie was in her formal dress so pretty. The picture below is the 2 of them together and of course more pictures to come. LOL! I am such a proud mom and Grandma of course.  My daughter was beside herself. It gave a break from everyday life and a way to dream. Torrie didn’t win the Pageant but she really had fun and enjoyed the hotel pool LOL! She won a trophy for participating and was so happy to get it she didn’t care if she won. And of course we told her she did a wonderful job. She did everything she was asked to do and didn’t get scared or stumble or freeze so she did awesome.  Her Uncle Todd bought a sash and crown so she knew she did a good job. She was in heaven.

Soooo pretty. Matt has been working on cleaning the pool. Hopefully next week around the middle it will be warm outside and ready to get in. Torrie is excited. She said “Papa when the water turns blue we can get in right?” He said “yes Peanut” She said “YEAH!!” She is so funny.  I have been trying to keep up with the house work to but you have to want to do it to get it done LOL! My stepson graduated this weekend from Riley School. My husband Matt is so proud, it is just one of those very special moment in your life. I got lots of pictures for scrapbook pages and some for his frame for his desk of course. Now that he is 18 I guess he has to figure out where he is going next.  So hard to decide and very hard finding a job. Hopefully he starts looking into colleges to pick up a trade.

Update on DD.

May 12th, 2010 by Donna | Comments Off | Filed in AnyThing

Well my Scrapbooking buddy is going to be in the hospital in Topeka for another 3 weeks they are getting the infection under control. She is doing better and making great strides everyday. If her diabetes hadn’t been so out of control the infection wouldn’t have gotten worse than usual. But then they say when it rains it pours. I am just glad she is getting the care she needs.  Hopefully when this is all over we can get on some scrapbook pages. LOL! I can’t wait to scrapbook again with her. I guess I need to pull out my stuff and work on some here at the house. It is kinda hard to get the inspiration when you are doing it alone. Cuz we always ask each others advice and share our thoughts while we are working on the pages. But that’s ok I think I can work on my kids scrapbooks of their father I had going on.  Got most of the 2 done but need to get to work on the 3rd one and finish the end of the other 2. Their father passed away of congestive heart failure about 18 yrs ago while he was on a fire call. He was on his second one of the night and colapsed before leaving the station and they couldn’t bring him back. He was on the Ogden Volunteer Fire Dept. So I guess I can work on those until she comes back home. I’ll let you know how its going with those scrapbooks. Well take care.

How Do You Preserve Memories?

December 17th, 2009 by Chuck | Comments Off | Filed in Scrapbooking

The test is positive and you are going to be a new parent. This is a very exciting time in the life of a couple. In just a few months there is going to be a new baby and you are going to be responsible to care for that child.

Those first few weeks, the human baby is very helpless and will depend on you for food, protection, warm clothing, diaper changes and every other need of life. However, in only a few short months, you will find that you are shopping for toddler baby bedding.

Getting started on scrapbooking.

August 6th, 2009 by Donna | Comments Off | Filed in Scrapbooking

mom-and-dadI have talked a few of times about getting started with your scrapbook, but lets talk a little more about it.
When my mom and dad died I was looking thru their things trying to decide what to keep, what to give to my brothers and sisters and what to just get rid of. Well that is a hard thing to do but you have to do it. Anyway my point is you will be surprised at what you find. Remember the old scrapbooks that had a board for the cover and the construction paper like pages. Well I found one that my mom had years ago when my mom and dad were dating and when they got married. So yes my mom was making a scrapbook years ago. So many people were scrapbooking and didn’t know it was going to be such a hobby now.
When I started I went to the stores in my area that sold scrapbook supplies and bought a little at a time and bought a lot of things on sale.
The easier way to start out so you don’t spend money you don’t have. I would take out the pictures that I would want to scrapbook first. Then I would buy the book, on sale if possible. I would then check the stores for scrapbook supplies and who have the best sales or prices and buy the paper, stickers, and embellishments that would go with the theme or pictures that you want to scrapbook first.
When you pick your pictures that you want to do, you can just do some of your children that you have from certain times of their lives or events in their lives, for example Births, Birthdays or the first time event in their lives. You can do one for all the children in one album or do an album for each child. What you feel you would want as a memory.
Buy a couple scrapbook magazines or go online and look at the web sites out there and get some ideas for pages. My web site offers all of those things just look around.
Your pages and albums can be as simple or detailed as you would like. Always try and journal on the page. It helps tell who, what and where. The date is always important. This album will be passed on, it is important to have that information. Ever take out pictures that no one wrote on the back so your not sure who, when and where. I have lots of pictures from my mom and dad’s things that I will have to talk to someone in the family to see what they can help me with.
So start out slow, gather pictures, get supplies, write out the who, what and where. Then sit down pick out your background paper, layout your pictures, stickers and embellishments on the page, see if it is what you want on the page, then when you’re sure start put them on the page. I use glue tabs. Makes it simple and quick when mounting your pictures and things on the page.
Put your album together the way you want. The album is yours and you want it to reflect you and your family.
Questions??? Ask away I’ll try and help.
Enjoy your scrapbooking experience. Have fun with it.
