It’s all about timing!

May 28th, 2009 by Donna | Comments Off | Filed in Scrapbooking

may-june-09-013-1

By timing I mean getting the click of the camera at the right time and if they are willing to be a Rock Star, when the are you need to be ready. When she is willing I have to take advantage of the situation. She is now at that age where if we want her take a picture forget it. So when she decided to be silly the other night I grabbed my camera and started snapping, also I took a few videos of her singing into her microphone. I have not tried to put video on here yet this might be the right opportunity to try it. This is going to be a wonderful page in my album. I might go as far as to say it will make good blackmail material when she gets older. LOL! Remember timing people timing! I will try to load the video tomorrow. COOL! Something to look forward to. :)

SPRING OR NOT SPRING THAT IS THE ? lol!

March 31st, 2009 by Donna | Comments Off | Filed in Scrapbooking

So the snow came and then within 24 hours was melted away. I feel fortunate that we only got 4 1/2 inches. I heard Pratt KS got 28 in that is so CRAZY!! Now we are still sitting here waiting the arrival of  spring. Right now the wind is blowing and the air is cold. Says it may rain but I havn’t seen any yet. I myself don’t mind the wind blowing lightly but not 35-40 miles an hour. And I wouldn’t mind a light misty Spring like rain wihtout the cold. I guess patience is a virtue. Right? Well soon it will be nice out again and the birds will be back, the grass will be green and the flowers that didn’t die from this last cold bout will bloom. Then we can go out have a picnic, take pictures, BBQ, take pictures, go to the park, take pictures,  go out and smell the flowers, see the green grass and take pictures.

Discover a Great Reason to Laugh Out Loud Now

November 22nd, 2008 by seeley | Comments Off | Filed in Humor

Serious people Beware! You are entering an area where your seriousness is under threat.

If seriousness is your forte, be alert to the symptoms of laughter that’s contagious. Run for cover as you feel your mouth corners twitch and unexpected giggles push themselves up continuously – sure signs you’re becoming addicted to laughter.

No! The laughter doesn’t stop there! Ever seen the rolling on floor emoticon? Holding the sides, down on the floor with tears rolling down the cheeks? That’s hitting the peak of laughter, and it is addicting, too.

Is Communication Better Today?

July 7th, 2008 by kphirst | Comments Off | Filed in Humor

In 1955 when researchers counted the punctuation in period texts they found a change in our way of communicating. They discovered there had been a surprising drop in semicolon usage between the 18th and 19th centuries. The drop from 68.1 semicolons per one thousand words to 17.7 was attributed to technology. What was the new technology in the 1850’s? It was the telegraph – or what science writer Tom Standage called the “Victorian internet”. The first telegraph that could successfully send messages across wires with electricity was made by Samuel Morse in 1837. Because telegraph charges for punctuation were the same as charges for words, people started using short, punchy lines and minimal punctuation to save money. In the 1850’s, because of the telegraph, the English language experienced a semi-colonoscopy.

Did I Miss That Day In School?

July 2nd, 2008 by kphirst | Comments Off | Filed in Humor

Until a recent trip to Vermont I thought Vermont was one of the original thirteen states. Wrong. Vermont had wanted to be its own country. It changed its mind in time to become the fourteenth state in the union. I also learned that Vermont is the most rural of the fifty states. One-third of its roads are unpaved and one hundred twenty covered bridges dot its countryside. In Vermont roofs are covered with tin so the winter sun will warm them and cause accumulated snow to slide off. If I didn’t think snow was a four-letter word, I’d live in Vermont. Living in a state that’s outlawed billboards would be a sign of good taste.

What Are Everyday Mysteries?

July 1st, 2008 by kphirst | Comments Off | Filed in Humor

Everyday mysteries are things that you unsuccessfully try to understand. Somnambulism is as mysterious to me as the condition it describes – sleepwalking. Only 1.2% of the population sleepwalks, which explains why I’ve never known anyone with the condition. Sleepwalkers are supposedly in a non-dream state of sleep, which allows the process going on in the brain to manifest in actions. Although some drugs have been thought to cause sleepwalking, somnambulism experts say drugs only exacerbate the condition, as do anxiety, sleep deprivation and high fever. Although scientists haven’t determined a specific cause for sleepwalking, they have discovered a genetic predisposition. Sleepwalking, however, isn’t just walking. Some people perform complex tasks while they’re asleep, such as driving, preparing meals and writing checks. The checks don’t make sense, but they are signed. I don’t think I’m a sleepwalker, but the check writing thing sounds like something I do every April 15th.
