August 20th, 2009 by Donna | Comments Off | Filed in Arts and Crafts

torrie-025So these pages are really pretty and kindof plain. I made them with alot less on the page than usual with me I am usually a page filler. LOL! But these pictures turned out so good. She let me take some with the black and white setting on the camera and she even had fun posing for me. I love how the pages came and again. The Cricut was busy on these pages too. The flourishes are so pretty. The cartridge was called Home Accent. Love it and of course her name on the Cricut also. LOVE the Cricut.

Torrie is in the green. She is at school reading before breakfast.

So I think we had enough rain right? But then again I love Spring and like to see the green and the flowers finally coming out.

So my daughter Korine went to Torrie’s first parent teacher conference yesterday and the teacher said Torrie is doing very good. She said she knows her colors, shapes and can count to 20. She also said that she sometimes leads the other kids with activities. She said they took out the butterfly wings for the kids to put on and sing and dance but the kids were not sure what to do, so Torrie put on the wings and started singing and dancing and the other joined her. Of course Torrie’s favorite thing is to sing and dance. Well listen to me you can’t tell I am a proud Grandma HUH?!? LOL!

The History of Stained Glass Windows

February 8th, 2009 by ZachRiggott | Comments Off | Filed in Arts and Crafts

The art of stained glass windows has changed greatly over time, from the Greco-Roman civilizations to the most recent American style. It can be traced back to the Greco-Roman civilization. Based on the remains of Pompeii and Heraculaneum, stained glass was a domestic luxury for wealthy Romans, rather than an art form. When the Greco-Roman civilization collapsed, the tradition of stained glass survived and eventually spread throughout Europe. Much of what we know today about the early production of stained glass windows comes from the book “Schedula diversarum atrium,” written by the monk Theophilus. This book dates back to the end of the eleventh century. It gives a detailed description of the process for making of a stained glass window. Although new technologies have been developed over the years to improve the art of stained glass windows, the same basic method that Theophilus describes is still used today.

Use An Easel – Comfortably Discover Your Next Masterpiece

Painting is a craft that needs serious dedication. The love of arts is inherent in people, but only those who were gifted enough to visualize images on paper, then do a lot of handwork that properly depicts their imagination.

For instance, at a glance, being able to use a brush and strike a line is as easy as counting sheep. However, there is more to that. There are a number of requirements beyond an artistic mind. Talent, perseverance and perhaps the biggest consideration is money. In fact, art materials can range from a hundred dollars to almost a thousand depending on quality and brand.
