Why Shampoos Could Be The Most Dangerous Cosmetic Products?

November 28th, 2008 by KatiaChabalina | No Comments | Filed in Womens Interest

Cosmetic and medical products that get in contact with our skin are absorbed through the skin, get in the blood stream and can accumulate in high quantities in different parts of our bodies. The absorption of substances from outside the skin to positions beneath the skin, including entrance to the blood stream, is referred to as Percutaneous Absorption. Usually, shampoos contain very aggressive cleaning ingredients that desroy hydrolipidic film. Hydrolipidic film is an emulsion of water (hydro) and fat (lipos). Its main function is an external barrier, a defense against bacteria and fungi. In addition it keeps the skin supple. The cleaning ingredients of shampoos destroy external barrier of the scalp and all the dangerous ingredients found in shampoos enter our bodies.

This is why all cosmetic products not just medical products must be tested for safety.

Hairdressers and estheticians are considered to be at high professional risk, because they come in contact with cosmetic products more than anyone else. Most importantly, there are a lot of different ingredients in cosmetic products, especially shampoos that can be very damaging to our health. In particular, there are lot of ingredients widely used in the cosmetic industry that are not being studied as much as food products and drugs, but they can be very dangerous and carcinogenic (can cause cancer). The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare says the number of cancers being diagnosed each year is growing faster than the overall population. Skin cancer has increased by more than 350% in last five years.

This is why all Allatolia products have been extensively tested and analyzed for safety and clinical effectiveness.

Allatolia products are manufactured without the addition of colorings, perfumes, and thickening ingredients since their origin (1978), because the very high quality of raw materials used allows avoiding any kind of covering. Colors and perfumes are often added to products in order to cover bad quality of raw materials (low quality raw materials often smell very bad). Dermatologists and Allergologists consider perfumes and colors which are added to cosmetic products as the most responsible for contact dermatitis. Contact dermatitis is a localized rash or irritation of the skin caused by contact with a foreign substance. Professionals in the cosmetic field, especially hairdressers are at higher risk for developing irritations and allergic reactions due to the fact that they use cosmetic products all day long.

Allatolia products are made without formaldehyde since the origin (1978). Formaldehyde (or formic aldehyde) is a preservative considered to be very dangerous, although widely used for its low price. Formaldehyde is classified as a probable human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. International Agency for Research on Cancer states that there is sufficient evidence that formaldehyde causes nasopharyngeal cancer in humans. Formaldehyde also causes allergies.

Under certain dosage the present laws do not yet force producers to declare the presence of formaldehyde. In Switzerland the use of formaldehyde is forbidden for both medicines and cosmetics since 1967. Therefore, the voluntary procedure to submit the products to the composition exam to the laboratories of Swiss Hygiene and the consequent certification of conformity means that, under precise responsibility of the producer, the products are made without formaldehyde. All the certificates that state that all Allatolia products do not contain formaldehyde can be found on our website.

Villa Bofghini products are manufactured without Methylene Chloride since the origin (1978). Methylene Chloride has always been considered as a very dangerous substance for human health. In spite of this, it has been largely used to manufacture hair sprays and hair fixing products mainly because of its low cost and of its high volatility characteristic (it is able to let the other ingredients exhale very quickly, thus allowing to fix hair almost immediately). Obviously, Methylene Chloride and other substances heavily pollute the environment. This bears dangerous consequences to the health of people using such toxic products. Only in 1998 did the European Commission finally classify it as “R-40” meaning dangerous substance able to cause irreversible noxious effects to human health.

Allatolia products have been clinically studied and tested for maximum safety by Repeated Insult Patch Test. All Allatolia products have passed this test. Under normal conditions it takes 28 days for the basal layer of skin cells through their death and physiological transformation to finally reach the skin surface. This is the cycle of the skin, called cellular turnover. This is what allows the skin to have the power of self-defense from anything that comes in contact with it.

There are two clinical-pharmacological tests used to evaluate safety of products for topical application. They are Patch Test and Repeated Insult Patch Test. The Patch Test usually lasts 48 hours. As previously explained, the cellular turnover of the skin lasts 28 days. This means that the product tested only for 2 days cannot be called hypoallergenic, because 2 days are not enough to really test the product. The Repeated Insult Patch Test lasts for 30 days, that is to say two more days of the skin cellular turnover. This is why the product that managed to over come such a rigid test is certified as “Incapable of causing irritation or allergic reactions”.

According to the FDA, there are no Federal standards or definitions that govern the use of the term “hypoallergenic”. The term means whatever a particular company wants it to mean. Manufacturers of cosmetics labeled as hypoallergenic are not required to submit substantiation of their hypoallergenicity claims to FDA.

Allatolia products have overcome the strictest clinical-pharmacological test in the University Laboratories for Maximum Safety: “The Repeated Insult Patch Test”. All Allatolia products are certified as incapable of causing irritation or allergic reactions.

Up to today, Allatolia is the unique whole range of products in the world that was able to overcome the hardest test for maximum safety.

The scalp is at the top of the list among the body parts affected by Allergenic Contact Dermatitis. Shampoos are the most dangerous products, because they destroy the hydrolipidic film of the skin (extreme barrier for the protection of the skin) and that provokes the dangerous rebound effect of the sebaceous gland, and in turn canceling the skin power to self-defense. That is why they are considered to be the most dangerous cosmetic products. For this reason hairdressers are at a higher risk.

Allatolia finished products have been registered and approved by the FDA. The finished product is the result of mixing together various ingredients. Every ingredient has its own characteristics which can be changed by combining it with another ingredient. It is evident that by advertising a product only because it contains a particular ingredient does not show the proven scientific value of the finished product. So, it is very important to test the finished product as well as each ingredient separately. All ALLATOLIA products have been tested as finished products.

For most shampoos, the manufacturing process starts with making a large amount of concentrated shampoo in one shot, and then it is diluted. Allatolia, on the other hand manufactures their shampoos differently. It is done by addition of ingredients to each bottle one by one. We add the ingredients, not dilute a high concentrated solution.

According to the results of the tests and analysis of Allatolia products, the use of Allatolia products allows achieving important clinical results with no side effects.

The whole range of Allatolia products has very advanced scientific characteristics, because we are able to achieve both aesthetic and curative results simultaneously. This is another scientific and technical innovation called Product Dynamism.

The unique distinctive characteristics of Allatolia line shows that Allatolia manufacturing levels and quality of the ingredients were almost 30 years ahead of the modern European Regulations.

Marriage Ain’t What It Used to Be

November 27th, 2008 by knox93 | No Comments | Filed in Womens Interest

Every day, men and women with relationship “challenges” go through this little dance. It’s a dance of avoidance, avoiding what’s really bothering them. Avoiding what’s really important. Broken vows and broken promises serve up a multitude of problems that today’s couples are finding harder and harder to avoid. For certain, marriage ain’t what it used to be.

Yet avoiding these little problems can have huge implications for you and all your other relationships. A snowball effect occurs. If you’re not happy at home, it will eventually find its way into other parts of your life as well. Maybe your production at work drops off or you simply don’t smile anymore. Either way, your friends, family, and co-workers start to notice that you’re not yourself anymore. Suddenly, you’re different.

They might ask if you’re not feeling well. They might just start avoiding you altogether! You end up feeling like you have no one to talk to. You’d talk to your family, but they might just tell you it’s all in your head or, even worse, just tell you to grin and bear it. Your friends all have their own issues and have little time to solve your problems. You’d go to therapy, but it’s both time-consuming and costly, and you have only so much to give. Whatever you decide to do, the truth is undeniable. Your overall prosperity hinges on how successful your love relationships are.

In general, your relationships are going to be as good as your ability to communicate with the men in your life. Given that we guys don’t share our thoughts, our feelings, our emotions as much as we should, wouldn’t it be great if there were an instruction manual included?

Unfortunately, you’re not given one by your clergyman after you’ve said your vows. Even worse, the same skill set that brought you and your man together has little to do with the long term health of your relationship.

I was once told that it’s far easier to get into something than it is to get out of it. Those who have gone through a breakup or worse a divorce know this all to well. All you know when starting a new relationship is that you really don’t know. The journey that men and women embark on is often not the journey they end with.

Love comes and goes to many. Passions flare and love burns only to be extinguished with one wrong word or mistake. Love is and never was easy. In the end isn’t that what makes love so grand?

Before You Send Him to the Doghouse

November 22nd, 2008 by knox93 | No Comments | Filed in Womens Interest

It has often been said that you can never truly know another man until you walk a mile in his shoes. Well, I’ll take this analogy a step further and say the same applies to you. You’ll never know what’s really going on inside your guy’s head until you walk in his shoes, i.e., get inside his head.

This is by no means an easy task. According to a 5000 person study done by Rodale publishing, publishers of both Men’s and Women’s Health Magazines, almost 66% of men don’t want you asking them questions about themselves. What about the other 34% of men? They just might be content with the questions you’ve already asked! The bottom line to all this is that it’s probably best to get your questions answered elsewhere.

What do I mean by getting inside his head and where should you start to do this?

I think a good book would be a great place to start but which one?

Now this is where you come in. It should be your goal to put yourself in a guy’s shoes if only in your imagination. Obviously books are great for this. Countless romance novels paint pictures of guys as the writers believe men should be. Men and women are cast as various archetypes that have similarities in the real world. Sometimes romance novels strike a chord and sometimes they don’t. I suppose fantasy can be great for escape and fun, but does it get you closer to understanding men better?

It’s probably best to read something reality based as it can give you new insights you never had before. The insights garnered from these kinds of books will answer questions like the following.

Has your guy ever said something that has thrown you for a loop, made you scratch your head, or made you want to pull your hair out?

Has his lack of communication made you feel betwixt and between?

Have you ever been confused by something he’s said or not said?

Could he be more talkative?

Does he ever think about the relationship? Is he even capable of doing it?

Has that “secret code” guys speak ever driven you to the brink of exhaustion and made you wonder if you’ll ever, ever understand what he’s really trying to say?
Could a better understanding of the male mind, of the way men communicate and the way men think, help you build a relationship that would make you the envy of friends and family?

Fighting Violence Against Women

November 22nd, 2008 by nbisea | No Comments | Filed in Womens Interest

The Middle East has become a hotbed for violence against women. The Yemen Post released a study that found 2,694 incidents of physical and sexual abuse against women in 2007.

Pakistan Daily reports that 278 incidents of violence against female citizens occurred in just three months, with a 36% rise in cases. Likewise, in Sudan and South Africa, women are being victimized. Even at home in America, 1/3 of all women will become domestic abuse victims.

In America, violence against females typically starts in the dating phase. Many women are drawn to men who appear confident, assertive and intensely interested in them. However, abusers are generally as passionate in anger as they are in love and quickly a romantic relationship becomes a continuous cycle of fighting and making up.

In some cases, the men are very remorseful when they see their partners taking steps to leave them, which is all part of their control, where women think, “Well he didn’t mean it. Deep down he must love me. I probably deserved it.” In other cases, the controlling behavior reveals itself in shoving, punching, slapping, pinching and physical violence.

There are often early warning signs such as not letting you hang out with your friends, calling frequently to find out where you are and who you’re with, telling you what to wear, having to be around you all the time, name-calling, jealousy or belittling you. Many women in these dysfunctional relationships are also victims of sexual abuse, which includes unwanted touching, forced sex, unprotected sex or forced sex acts that are hurtful or demeaning.

Men who assault women are manipulative by nature and may claim that they were “hurt in the past,” citing that as an excuse for their seemingly irrational jealousy. They often use tearful apologies or a whole host of other tactics to lure you back. In some cases, these tactics include forceful violence against women.

The road to ending violence against women is long and arduous. The key to lasting crime prevention is education and programs set up to offer women a way out. Owing in part to the rising number of shelters for battered women, the number of men killed by their wives or girlfriends has decreased because many women can now escape, yet unfortunately, the number of victimized women has remained the same.

To combat the problem in America, groups like the National Organization of Women, the Department of Justice and the Center for Disease Control have added domestic violence to their agendas.

The potential damage that conventionally grown cotton poses to our ecosystem is what drives people to the act of going into green products. Back when people were not so conscious about the environment, cotton that was used in most clothing lines were the most chemically laden crop. It was bombarded with heavy pesticides and herbicides. When made into clothes, the pesticides that were sprayed onto the cotton are not easily washed off in the process of manufacturing the clothes. These chemicals and toxins are absorbed by the people wearing those clothes. Growing traditional cotton also involves fertilizers that were sprayed from above. They were not only ingested by the crops they were intended for but also by the nearby farm houses, bodies of water, and people. In effect, they were not only harmful to those wearing those clothing lines but also to the nearby farm communities.

How to Get Things Done When You’re Breastfeeding Baby

October 14th, 2008 by CarrieLauth | No Comments | Filed in Womens Interest

Breastfeeding has countless benefits for mom and baby. However, one of the so-called disadvantages of breastfeeding is the perception that mothers are tied to their babies or to the nursing chair all the time. Unless you’re good with a breast pump, you can’t just drop your baby off with the sitter when you need to run an errand or take time for yourself. What if she gets hungry while you’re away? And how can you explain to a babysitter why it’s so important not to give a bottle of formula while you’re gone?

These challenges can be overcome so as not to disrupt the breastfeeding relationship. Here are some ways you can plan to get things done while you’re breastfeeding your baby.

* Ignore the things you can. If household jobs are calling, put them off if possible. After all, the bedroom will wait if it doesn’t get painted this month, or this year. Baby, on the other hand, is growing and changing everyday.

* Lower your standards. Life after a new baby is a time of adjustment. Life will never be the same, and you have new priorities now. If your home doesn’t pass the white glove test, so what? You’re raising a new human. What could be more important than that?

* Invest in a sling, and use it. A sling keeps your baby close to you while you work around the house. The rocking motion and your closeness will help baby relax. And it’s very convenient when it’s time to nurse. With some slings you can even nurse hands free so you can be doing things you need to do while meeting baby’s needs.

* If you do have to be away from baby, enlist the help of your friends and family. Bring a friend along for an appointment or function to help occupy your baby, and when it’s time to nurse, you’ll be right there. Or, invite her over to your house to cuddle baby while you get stuff done. When baby gets hungry, you can take a break and nurse.

* If you do need to use a babysitter, look for a breastfeeding friendly caregiver who you can educate on the importance of breastfeeding. If you think you’ll want a babysitter, start looking for the right person before baby’s arrival. Once she’s here, you’ll want to spend time with your new baby, instead of looking for someone to look after her.

* You may want to begin by leaving baby with a caregiver between feedings, so you know she isn’t likely to get hungry while you’re away. If you plan to leave a babysitter during a feeding, tell your caregiver to hold your baby while she gives your baby your milk in a bottle, and to pick her up when she fusses.

This time with your baby is precious, and you won’t want to miss a minute of it. But when you do need to get things done, relax and find an option that will work for you and your infant. If you do take the time you need, you will be a happier Mom, which means a happier baby.

Breastfeeding in Public - Tips For New Moms

October 13th, 2008 by CarrieLauth | No Comments | Filed in Womens Interest

Breastfeeding an infantImage via WikipediaWhen you have a baby you want to do everything you can to make them healthy and happy. Breastfeeding has been found to be the best thing you can do for your baby’s health. Breastfeeding provides optimal support to the baby’s immune system and so much more. If it’s at all possible, breastfeed your baby for the first year of life while introducing solid foods slowly during the second part of that first year, then continue as long as you and baby wish.

When you are in a public place, you might be uncomfortable about nursing your baby. Perhaps you’re concerned about the people around you. Here are some tricks that will help you feel more comfortable about breastfeeding in public.

Nursing Covers

Some moms opt to use a specially designed nursing cover up when they’re out and about and baby gets hungry. Cover ups are now available in a variety of cute fabrics, and they’re easier to use than a blanket that your baby might object to. Since they create an opening around the baby’s head, allowing him to breathe more easily, they’re much more comfortable for him. They also allow you to look at your baby while nursing so you can enjoy that bond together. Nursing covers are not going to slide off your shoulder either since they’re designed to stay around your neck. Some moms use a blanket to cover themselves and you can certainly do that. Other moms find that it’s easier to learn how to latch baby on discreetly and then simply place a blanket behind baby for some additional cover. If you practice latching baby on in front of a mirror you can become so adept at it that you can get baby settled at the breast within seconds, using just your clothing as a cover. Wearing a cardigan or jacket to keep your sides covered is also helpful.

Nursing Rooms

Depending on the location you are at, some shopping centers and other public buildings have special nursing areas for moms. If you feel much more comfortable nursing in private, these are great. Bathrooms are often busy distracting and dirty. Not to mention smelly! You wouldn’t want to eat in a bathroom, and your baby shouldn’t have to either. If you’re in a store, try the fitting rooms for some privacy and a place to sit down.

Your Car

If you are in a situation where you can’t find a place to sit, the car is always an option. Sitting in the passenger side of the car or the back seat might be the most comfortable spot to nurse. If it’s warm or cold you may need to use the A/C or heater while you are in the car. You want to be comfortable and you want the baby to be comfortable as well. A lot of moms make it a habit to nurse the baby before they get out of the car for shopping or errands or wherever they’re going. That way baby is happy and content before the excursion!

Baby Slings

This one may be the most convenient option of all. You can learn to nurse your baby in a baby sling and noone will be the wiser. Some moms have even been nursing their babies in their sling while walking around the grocery store! A baby sling covers you well and provides a little privacy for baby so he can get down to the business of nursing without distracting noise and lights.

Remember that the most important part of nursing in public is your confidence and attitude. There is nothing dirty or shameful about meeting your baby’s needs. Just because you are in public when your baby needs to eat doesn’t mean you need to go home. It doesn’t mean you can’t leave the house or that you must pump a bottle for your baby. There is no need to restrict your activities when you have a new baby, and getting out of the house is great for your mood, especially in those early weeks.
